Black is Black

Bear with me on this one I quote:

They were penned up in batches of a hundred, men and women seperate, a great mass of smelling, heaving black bodies, all stark naked, squatting and moaning; the sound was like a great wailing hum, and it never stopped, day or nigh, wxcept when the tubs of burgoo were shoved into the pens, and they shut up long enough to empty the gourds which were passed around among them. What astonished me was that Spring and Murphy were able to walk in among them as though they were tame beasts; just the two of them in that massive crowd, miserable humanity, with a couple of black guards jerking out the one's selected. if they'd had a spark of spirit the niggers could have torn them limb from limb, but they just sat, helpless and mumbling...Sullivan reckoned it was the knowledge they were going to be slaves...

the summer night is perfect for walking in at late hours. Last night I created a strange effect for myself, I had downloaded a song that my ipod was struggling with, it would cut out at random times and then start again after indeterminately long pauses. Normally it would have been real fucking annoying but this was the song and needless to say it seemed appropriate.
I was walking up sydney road and being new years there was close to nobody around and nothing happening.
But being an Arab friendly area there where bunch of pictures of released Guantanimo Bay prisoner (I've forgotten his name) wearing a shirt that said 'prisoner exchange: Free David Hicks, Imprison Howard' and you know what, it's right.
Osama Bin Laden masterminded (or at least endorsed top down) the attacks on the world trade center causing the buildings to fall down on some day. He also managed to kill 3000 american troops in this maneuver cause civil war in iraq, a train wreck in Spain and a subway bombing in London.
The excerpt from 'Flash for Freedom' is not a article to consolidate my position with whit supremacy. But simply because it highlights a fact that even in the most obvious of bad circumstances a mass of people can fail to react.
I would like, sincerely love to see an end to white supremacy and live in more interesting times.
At the moment the US is working painfully it's neck out of a noose depending on the democrats ability to muster up some competence. Australia is doing a merry little jig on the end of one. I sort of wonder if reparations would be hard to get out of white pockets in America if every white man and lady had to spend a year as a slave.
Do we not fight a war on terror because we are terrified of this eastern savage culture? Afraid of it and not teenagers driving WRX's? Afraid of Arab's and not Global Warming? Or even our decency as human beings.
To those of a foreign disposition, Austrlia refuses to say sorry to the Aboriginal nation for fear it will lead to reparations.
People don't fucking get it. They want all to be forgotten with out giving back anything that's stolen.
Won't pay reparations to African slave descendants because 'we're dealing with a lot of money' it may destabalise the US! What if we acknowledged (and actually acknowledged) native land title to Aboriginals in Australia, it would cost a lot of money, and aboriginals aren't stupid, they know the value of land over money.
Well here's whats to get: A lot of the money and wealth and economics that would be destroyed by such an admission of wrongdoing were founded from wrongdoings, namely slavery and the legal declaration that aboriginals did not exist.
Abraham Lincoln was at the end of the day willing to split a nation in half (long before Gandhi) and go to war with his own people rather than bend or break his moral payload.
The reason being Abe was a leader in a true sens of the word, more and more I am realising the vast implications of leadership, the masses surrender their will to a leader, out of trust which in a way is beautiful, it is self preservation, instinct to organise a community into a nice little heirarchy so that theirs no anarchy. But it means a large masse orients itself to an individual (a leader) so as not to rock their boat.
Did you know the odds of any given individual effecting the outcome of a democratic vote are slighter than winning the lottery? and votes don't follow money, money follows votes. Leadership is a dangerous, powerful and wonderful thing.
I have to admit I don't have Abe or even Ricky Pontings knack for it, I have about 250 hits a month, at best my word will only spread if this is the kind of blog that a few people refer to in order to pass off my opinion as their own.
It would hurt a lot to say sorry now, but would it will hurt even more later. And once it's done everyone can move on. We can enjoy what little of the cake is left rather than worry constantly that someone else might come and eat it on us.
Would you rather have all of an ant or the tale of an elephant?
oh well sooner or later...
